Reuse of the washing machine water
Reuse of the washing machine water
The idea for this project arose from the severe water crisis facing the state of São Paulo, caused by lack of rain and high water consumption by the population.
A washing machine 8kg of clothes uses almost 120 liters of water every complete wash:
- 60 liters rinse cycle powder
- 60 liters in the rinse cycle with clothes softener
On the machine I have at home there is a "Economy: water reuse" button, which when clicked pause the operation and light "reuse water" starts flashing warning that it is time to reuse the water thus positioned to the washer hose onto the drum.
To reuse, includes a tap on the drum, called on the pressure washer and water used for yard washing. We used 20 liters of water to wash 50m2.
Material:
- Drum for water storage
- Tap
- flange
It is a simple, low cost and easy construction.
