Residuo Cero
I live in a state with a lot of vegetation and beautiful landscapes, however we have noticed how these places have been affected by the society. Our natural areas have been contaminated, causing a serious problem for our ecosystem. My motivation was the need to know the actions that I must do as a member of society to be part of the change and share it with other people to help us create a better world.
The project began with the collection of cigarette butts. Later it was disseminated through talks in institutions, schools and social networks about waste management and cleaning campaigns were carried out. An agreement was signed with the secretary of health of our state creating centers of gathering. We develop a support network with local entrepreneurs promoting responsible consumption and the circular economy, inviting people to adopt habits of environmentally responsible citizens.
The project caused a great impact in local businesses, schools, companies, government and private institutions in the state of Colima as well as in other cities in Mexico through scouts that joined the project from their city.
My main learning was knowing how to work as a team, it was a very nice experience where I learned from many people, we all have something to contribute and being a leader was a process of growth and learning at all times. I learned to do paperwork, manage time, organization, communication, marketing, and a lot about caring for the environment.
