A Refugee Scout Saving Lives in Malawi

I was inspired to help save lives in my host community. Coming from Dzaleka Refugee Camp, I have learned resilience and the importance of giving back even with little. As a Scout, I wanted to show that refugees can also be part of the solution by living the values of a Messenger of Peace through action. My goal was to support patients in need of blood through donation, especially mothers facing complications during childbirth, accident victims and patients in hospitals fighting for their lives
I visited the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service and donated blood as a Scout leader from Dzaleka Refugee Camp. The process included registration, a health check, and donation under medical supervision. The aim was to support patients (people)in need and contribute to saving lives in my host country.
Through this project, I learned the importance of small actions in saving lives. I also learned that service does not depend on what you have, but on the willingness to help others. As a Scout and refugee, I realized I can still make a meaningful contribution to my host community through simple acts of kindness and responsibility.
