Reducing Light Energy Consumption in School
Adolescents skill program has introduced UPSHIFT as a youth social innovation and social entrepreneurship program that supports young people to identify problems in their communities and design solutions to tackle those problems. The scheme designed to bridge the gap between education systems and work environment has aroused the interest to take up this project.
The school has been registered on the School Innovation Challenge portal. Three days workshop was conducted where 110 leaners were facilitated on how to take problems as an opportunity that can help build a better community as well as escalade entrepreneurship skills in oneself. The team with the best upshifters was selected to represent school on the UNISOLVE platform. The core team members worked on conserving electrical energy in school which falls under SDGs.
The direct stakeholder (school) found it more valuable as the idea enables to automate daily routine of teachers, students and school caretakers to save electrical energy by consuming it only when required. This helped the school reduce electric bills as well as create a sustainable learning environment. Around 110 participants were benefited from this project.
Learning to perceive problems in a different way not only benefits community people but also creates self employment opportunities which is an essential thing in todays world.
