RCI-Rodriguez: SWA Voluntary Service - Third Service

On April 25, 2017, the 3rd meeting of the Scouts and children of Cottolengo Filipino has been held. As usual, the Scouts, with their Team Consultant to help them, arrived at Cottolengo Filipino on 7:00 AM in the morning. The children, again excited, were once again waiting for the Scouts to arrive. Eager and excited for their day to start, the children started helping the Scouts to set up while some were left behind, so that they could finish their morning routine. They all finished by 8:00 AM and their routinely Opening Ceremony started just right after. After their Opening Ceremony, the assigned Scouts to teach about their next requirement started the lesson proper at 8:15 AM. Their lesson for the day was all about how to properly execute the Scout Sign, Scout Salute and Scout Handshake. With their prepared visuals, readied lessons and proper examples, the lesson was taught properly. Shortly after the lesson, the activities were held. The activity proper started on 8:45 AM. The first activity held was done by the assigned Scouts. The assigned Scouts demonstrated a particular action, and the children would guess if it was the Scout Salute, Scout Sign or Scout Handshake. Each were given a turn to answer, all of them being recognized. The next activity started by 9:15 AM, wherein each of the children would pick a piece of rolled paper, and inside it was the action they will do. It varies from the three lessons taught this day. After opening up the rolled paper to reveal what they will do, they will demonstrate it to the person in front. Again, everybody had the chance to do this, and everybody has a blast. The next activity began by 10:00 AM. Each of the children were given a letter to form the words ‘Scout Salute’. With unity and thrill, the children coordinated with one another and finished the task quite quickly. By 10:45 AM, the activity was finished, and the next was to be done. The next activity’s goal is to form a puzzle about the Scout Handshake. Similar to the last activity, each of the Children were given a piece of the puzzle. By 11:15 AM, they were done and the last activity they did was to color a person doing the Scout Salute. And by 11:30 AM, they were done with their activities. They were given their 30-minute snack break, hoping to see them next time!
