RCI-Rodriguez: SWA Voluntary Service - Fourth Service

April 27, 2017 is marked as a special day not only for the Scouts, but also for a special someone in Cottolengo Filipino. Renan, one of the children there, will be celebrating his birthday and, of course, the Scouts will not let the day pass without a special surprise for him. Not wanting the others to know of the surprise, the Scouts with their Team Consultant ventured off to Cottolengo Filipino on 7:00 AM like any other day. They hid the surprise somewhere, and started preparing like normal. They finished the preparation by 8:00, and started the Opening Ceremony right after it. By 8:15 AM, the assigned Scout teachers for the day started the lesson proper. The lesson for the day was all about the Scout Badge, its parts and the function of each. With the prepared visuals, the lesson was delivered properly. The first activity started by 9:30 AM. Their first activity was to arrange the words “Scout Badge”. Each of them were given a letter, and everyone had fun interacting with each other, uniting as one in order to finish the activity. The next activity started by 9:45 AM and ended by 10:45 AM. With the coloring materials the Scouts have given them, they will color the Scout Badge correctly. As they have finished, they were again excited to finish the next activity. Each part of the Scout Badge (a puzzle) is hanged in a plastic, with a prize within it. Each has a chance to get the hanged part, each receiving a prize, and then each also has a chance to participate in the activity. After getting the piece, they will lay it down on the table and then fix the pieces to form the Scout Badge. While majority of the Scouts were doing the activities with the children, a few started preparing for the surprise. Believing that there’s another activity, the children were blindfolded but was later removed, leaving Renan the only one with a blindfold. The Scouts guided him to the surprise, and removed his blindfold. He was given a simple feast, a gift and a card. Everybody ate and had a good time.
