RCI-Rodriguez: SWA Voluntary Service - Fourteenth Service

On June 1, 2017, the 14th day of teaching was held successfully once again. Following their routine, the Scouts, always guided and helped by their Team Consultant, arrived at Cottolengo Filipino by 7:00 AM, to be greeted by the Boy Scouts. As they were fixing first their venue, the Boy Scouts also lent their hand. They helped carry the chairs and tables so that they could start earlier, excited by the new lesson they will soon learn. Then, they set up their visuals on the board, fixed up the uniforms and readied their activities. It was 8:00 AM by that time and, as soon as they've finished, they immediately started their Opening Ceremony to welcome their day. The lesson for the day was about the compass directions and how to locate north. They started by 8:15 AM. It was a long lesson, as they also included on how to use a compass. They told the Boy Scouts where the Sun rises and sets, where the North is, and how to care for a compass. Though a lot were a bit confused by the directions, each guide made sure that the Boy Scouts understood the lesson. As soon as they've finish the lesson, which was, already 10:00 AM, they started their activity. Each Boy Scout was given a compass, then, a Scout would give a direction and the Boy Scout will locate it. Each one did it confidently in front of their fellow Boy Scouts, showing them the correct location. Each one had the chance to do it, and everyone understood the lesson. They finished by 10:45 AM. Their second and last activity was to draw and color a compass of their own, indicating what part is the North, East, South and West. After this, they displayed their works proudly by the board, showing that they fully understood and enjoyed the lesson. They finished it by 11:30 AM. After telling them it was their last activity, it was like their instinct that they will now help the Scouts fix the visuals used for the day's lesson and prepare for snack time. As soon as they've finished fixing, they washed, thanked and prayed for the food, and then took their 30-minute snack break. After this, they cleaned their mess and again, helped the Scouts fix the tables and chairs, thanked them for a great day, and bid farewell to the Scouts, again, hoping for another wonderful day to be with them.
