Promoting Scouting in Northern Honduras
We wanted to promote volunteering to capture more adults and expand Scouting in northern Honduras, then the Scout District # 5 participated in the 2nd Volunteer Fair organized by UN-Volunteers and Honduras Volunteer Network, we also explained what we are currently doing in Scouting, inviting people to join our efforts to celebrate the International Day of Peace.
During this weekend (August 16 and 17), the District #5 participated in the 2nd Volunteer Fair in City Mall, San pedro Sula, this fair was organized by UN-Volunteers and Honduras Volunteer Network (in which Scouts of Honduras is an affiliated organization), in order to extend Scouting to all and motivate adults to volunteer in our city.
The activities were focused on two key areas:1. share information about the scout movement (what we are) and what the district scout No. 5 performed at the level of scout groups that comprise it.2. We invited all of our visitors to share their dreams (Dreams of Peace) how they would like see their city? Then, we as scouts, we would try to work for them also theey requested to call them to collaborate and together celebrate the International Day of Peace on September 21.
Among the projects requested:- More green areas- Elderly attention- Children playing in the streets as before- cleaner streets- Reducing violence- Etc ...
Furthermore, we were invited by United Nations to add to the MDGs (MILLENNIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS) by register every results of our actions in each of our projects.
More than 30 organizations participated in this fair, which is a great opportunity to join forces and collaborate among organizations.
Special thanks to every scout involved in the different activities (installing, designing, explaining, supporting) to make this stand possible!
