Projeto PONTES
When looking at our community, we pointed out the lack of youth involvement with the Salvaterra de Magos people. It's usual not to see young people participating in activities or groups, so we created Projeto PONTES so that through service to the community, we could ignite youth participation and action in Salvaterra de Magos.
We organized a 3-days activity, where participants from 13 to 23 years old did service in the municipal retirement home and in the local association "Há de Haver", which gathers and distributes food, clothes, and toys to people in need in our community
Overall, we concluded that Projeto Pontes was an important catalyst for youth involvement in Salvaterra. Despite the number of participants, we managed to leave a small flame in each young person who took part with us. One piece of knowledge we gained is that the plan for publicising an activity is a very important part of the preparation of the activity and should not be undervalued.
