Project Vriksha

We are Rover Scouts from the Patel Rover Crew, Bharat Scouts and Guides. Our motivation for this project arose from our love for nature and the fact that climate change and deforestation are both at a rise. This plantation drive though not big is our little contribution to making the world a more livable and green place.

We had planted over 40 saplings in a forest in Karanodai, Tamil Nadu. We were a group of 15 Rovers, Rangers, Scouters and Guiders and had started at 7 am from the State Headquarters of Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides and continued the plantation drive along with a quick cleanup drive in the forest area till 12 noon. We had spread the planting of the samplings in a 100 metres radius within the forest.

At the end of this project, we had a better understanding of how afforestation can help tackle climate change and also we learned how to plant a sapling in an open ground unlike pots in our gardens that we are used to! We also had a quick clean up drive and got awareness to as to how much waste and plastic is dumped even in the remotest of locations.
