Project Sikkim
Project Sikkim was one of the best experiences I had in my life so far. It was one of learning, giving back and passing it on. I had the time to pick up new skills, both soft and hard. I also made so many new friends and strengthened my skills in public relations. I do cherish all the memories the project left with me.
I learnt leadership skills, group facilitation and ways to interact with people of different backgrounds.
Project Sikkim had helped me in re-discovering myself, both as a person and as a Scout. I had many times in the project where I just reflected on my life and the mistakes I made. The project, in its magical way helped me understand those mistakes made and enabled me to learn from them.
The people around me, the locals and the team helped me comprehend what giving is truly about. It is about doing it whole heartedly and it is about doing it with a smile.
The project also enabled me to appreciate our Earth more, to love our environment and to practice good conservation skills.
I grew as a Scout and as a person and finally understood the meaning of the term “fellowship of the open air and service”. This project had contributed loads to my passion in Scouting and in youth empowerment. It taught me a whole set of values that I could use in both my personal and scouting life.
