POST SWA-VOLUNTARY SERVICE

On January 27, 2018, the Scouts went once again to Cottolengo Filipino, at about 8:00 AM. And this time? I wasn't about lessons. It was award time for the children there! As soon as the Scouts arrived, they were shocked that the children were already there, waiting for them. The Scouts had prepared a special surprise for them, and an exciting treat. The children, still remember what the Scouts had taught them, began doing the Scout Salute and helping them, even carried the big box containing the surprise. The Scouts went to the Social Hall of the place and talked to the Father Julio Cuesta, the President and Executive Director of Cottolengo Filipino, Inc. The caregivers also gave their testimonials on how the Scouts did a good job teaching the children about the Scout Movement. Fr. Julio, along with the brothers, were very much pleased to see the Scouts, and were much happier when they were told that the Scouts had already bought the children's Scout Uniforms. All filled up with anticipation, the children were so excited when the Scouts opened the box, and behold, their uniforms! The children happily - even immediately - wore their uniforms and fit them to find out which one is theirs. While wearing their uniforms, the children sat down and wrote "Thank you's" to the Scouts had a fun time in the picture taking! By 9:45 AM, they took their 15-minute snack break and all the laughs, chattering and stories flew across the hall. Everyone was actually having a good time. But as it was time for the Scouts to go, no frowns went across their faces. It was... quite different. The children were happy, and they were so contented. Before the Scouts left, they said, "Hintayin po namin ulit kayo next time!" And with that, the Scouts knew they did great. P. S. Cottolengo Filipino, Inc. allowed us to let the children’s faces to be seen on the pictures.
