Planting Mangrove, Planting Our Bright Future
I love being involved in every project of preserving nature. Since mangrove has an important role to maintain a good coastal ecosystem, which can provides habitat for marine life, protects coastal communities from erosion and natural disasters, it is very crucial to plant mangrove. So, I am together with Saka Kalpataru has done the project of planting mangrove as one of our commitment to take actions of saving this planet.
This project was conducted by Saka Kalpataru Kota Semarang, in collaboration with Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) Tapak, for about 30 participants involved in this activity. We plant approximately 50 mangrove seedlings in Tirang coastal beach. A brief introduction on how to plant the mangrove well was explained by the coordinator of Pokdarwis Tapak before we plant the mangrove. Our team then worked together planting mangroves in the designated area, about 50 m².
This project gives me a lesson that mangrove is very crucial to our ocean life. And the thing that I just knew that it is not easy to maintain the mangrove plantation as the waves of sea are very very dynamic. The waves sometimes brings down the mangroves that we plant, so they can't grow properly. In addition, planting mangrove is something that we have to maintain. Because they needs a long long time to grow and create a healthy ecosystem.
