Peace Activities commemorating International Day of Peace
Activities in commemoration af international day of Peace were conducted from 18 to 21 September '20 at Kohima the Capital city of Nagaland, India. The activities organised were :
1. Plantation: Golden Duranta and Aechmea fendleri flower plants were planted on 18th September at Lerie Junction Kohima and State Headquarters on 19th September by Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and unit Leaders. This activity was carried out to beautify the place with flowers and green plants
2. Face Mask and Hand Sanitizer Distribution to Schools: The Aim of this Project was to ensure that during the reopening of Schools for higher classes in Kohima from 21st September, everyone (inclusive of teaching staff and students) will have a face mask each and get their hands sanitized. 1000 Facemasks and 4 bottles each of hand sanitizers were handed over to two schools by Rovers of Alpine Open Rover Crew and Imlisunep State Coordinator MoP . The Head of Institutes and Principals were delighted and motivated by the actions. They remarked that the activity taken up during the time of pandemic was note worthy
3. Investiture Ceremony, MoP Beat dance, Selfie & Group Photo with Peace Pledges: Investiture Ceremony, MoP Beat dance, Selfie & Group Photo with Peace Pledges were organized by the Alpine Open Scout and Guide Unit of Kohima under the leadership of Mr. Imlisunep State Coordinator MoP. The activities were organised with the aim to reach out to the community through social media and also to refresh and entertain the Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers since they had stayed indoors at home for a long time during the total lockdown at Kohima which was lifted recently as the Covid situation was improving. 2 Rover Scout aspirants and 1 Ranger Aspirant were invested by Mr, John Tochimong SOC (S) and Ms, Sashikala Jamir Ranger Leader and Local MoP Coordinator. The participants enjoyed taking part in the activities especially the MoP dance.
4. Cleanliness drive: Cleanliness Drive was organized at two locations in Kohima one at Lerie Colony and one at State Headquarters. Wild bushes, weeds and grasses were trimmed and cut off. Cleaned the surroundings in and outside the state Headquarter premises and same at Lerie Colony by the Scouts and Guides of Vineyard School and Coraggio School Kohima.
5. Virtual Gathering to observe International Day of Peace: The First Virtual State Level Celebration of International Day of Peace was observed virtually with the rest of the world via Zoom cloud meeting. Shri. Alun Hangsing NCS, Commissioner & Secretary Youth resources and Sports Govt. of Nagaland was the Special Guest of the Programme. The programme was started with BSG Prayer which was followed by One Minute silence for the departed members of BSG during the Pandemic. Mrs. Vimezhonu SOC (G) chaired the programe, Welcome and Key note address was delivered by Mr. Atuo Mezhür Sekhose State Chief Commissioner. A video Presentation was done on “What Peace Means to Me” by Mr. Imlisunep State Coordinator MoP and Speech by the Special Guest. Another video presentation on the MoP Projects undertaken in the State was presented. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Mr. John Tochimong SOC (S) and the Programme ended with National Anthem.
Altogether 56 participants inclusive of Rover Scouts, Rangers, Scouts, Guides, State and District Officials, Unit Leaders successfully took part in the activities
