Participation of Eurasian Scouts in the International Peace Camp 2013

During the event they took part in religious activities, various brotherhood and friendship games, activities on scout skills/community service/dialogue on peace, adventure activities, activities on the global development village and on the international peace village, cultural performance. The scouts visited historical and educational places of Jakarta and were educated of Scout method. Here are stories some of the participants.  National Scout Movement of Armenia, (HASK) representative, Gevorg Ohanyan The project started at the very moment he met the representatives of Kazakstan and Belarus in Abu Dabi international airport. They easily became friends and made a scout camp even at the airport. On March 24 they arrived at Jakarta international airport and were taken to a place called Cibubur, where the scout camp was located. So the official opening ceremony of the event took place on March 25, afterwards the exciting scout life full of new friends, knowledge and programs started. The agenda of the project was very rich and saturated, it included not only scout activities, but also visits to various museums etc. On the third day of the project our participant, together with the scouts from his subcamp was taken to the in Sukaratu village, where they were met by local families. They spent 3 days in the village, slept in the places of the natives, got acquainted with their way of life, traditions, music and dances. They also visited the sacred mountain of the inhabitants and learned an interesting legend about it. Our participant emphasizes that the main goal of the project was peace itself-lots of interesting lectures on this topic were prepared for the participants by World Scout Committee. In the end of the project they were granted certificates and “Messengers of Peace” badges. HASK participant is very grateful for the useful and interesting project.   National Scout Association of Moldova, Mihai Butnaru, rover, Balti Scout Branch On the 25th of March, in the morning the Opening Ceremony took place. At the ceremony the host country presented a small ritual with some traditional dances and local customs. Also, the official representatives from World Scout Bureau have spoken in front of all participants at the camp. After the opening ceremony we have participated at the „Friendship and Brotherhood games”, these were interesting and interactive games which helped us to get us know better with all scouts from 33 countries. In the evening we watched at a presentation made by host scouts.
The whole camp was divided in 3 subcamps, after what I found out I will be in „Setu Babakan” subcamp. As we got there a traditional concert was presented for us organized again by scouts. After the concert, we were divided into groups, and we were hosted in different places. In the evening another concert was oranized, which was very interesting for me. But something very appart for me was the traditional (very spicy) food. The hosts were always freindly and the food was delicious.
During the next day, on 27th of March, I have participated at the dance workshop, where I was thought a national dance which I had to present during the evening activity. Also, I have participated at the workshop of acvatic constructions, we have built together a boat from such materials as bambuc and rubber, and we even try it! So many different and interesting activites! And all of them were new for me. I saw Scouting from another point of view.
One of the highlight from all activities was on 28th of March. During that day we have to visit a local school. The music was very loud, we were greeted almost like stars! We took a lot of photos with pupils from school and we have had a really nice time together. In the school we watched a little activity, afterwards we were visiting some of the classes and we were sharing information about Scouting in our country, telling about us, about our country and we were teaching local pupils words in our languages such as: „Hello”, „Good afternoon”, „Goodbye”, „Thank you”. We played also games, scouting traditional games but also local popular games. After the school visit we went to ZOO, where we saw exotical animals, which impressed me a lot. This experience was something new and very special for me.
On 29th of March, we have participated at the workshops (such as: Global Development Village, Peace Forum). Only after participating at all workshop we could get the whole picture of the BADGE, composed of 5 parts. This was very motivating! In the evening all participants have to prepare for the intercultural evening. It’s amazing how different are all scouts, but still we were united by one important value: Scouting.
On our pre-last day 30th of March, was organized a visit to the museum  „Taman Mini Indonesia Indah”,  where a very special event took place „Internatioanl Solidarity Peace Festival and Carnival” . During this visit we found out how the ancestors of local population used to live, to dress, how they used to eat, but also what traditions and customs they used to practice. As we came back in the camp, we attended the Closing Ceremony and the Peace Declaration events. Also we have sang all together the hymn „Messangers of Peace”  that showed us how united and close we are, even if we were gathered from all over the world! I really enjoyed this camp, it was something totally new for me, I have meet wonderful people and I now have friends all over the world. Even in Scouting I have found a lot of new things which aren’t practiced in our country.    Organization of Scout Movement in Kazakhstan, Vladimir Naiberger This  tirp gave me a lot of expirience as well as impressions. The program of the event was quite interesting. Every evening it was a concert performance, where we could represent the region, the country and themselves. The opening ceremony was absolutely amazing. Al the campers played on the musical instruments, which allows us to be a single whole; took part in brotherhood games, where the main thing is an united group of people not a single person. Due to this game, we had learned that when you help others you get a result faster that ever. I liked social work we did at the village: gardening, road repairing, cooking, etc.  It was extremely difficult to say god-buy to those people in whose family we lived for a couple of days. At the camp I got peaceful education: world’s peace forum, workshops “Global Development Village”. It gained me a lot of positive peaceful emotions, new acquaintances,  a wish to create a better world around  yourself. With a big pleasure I will continue a mission as a Messenger of Peace and wide MoP network.
