Participation in 23rd Blood Donation Campaign
Blood donation campaign is a beneficial initiative that will make huge difference in the lives of the people who need blood. Although, we cannot do big projects to save human lives, I feel that giving blood is a small act that will reap many benefits to the recipients as well as to the donors. This thought inspired me to donate blood and to help the health workers in the campaign.
The blood donation campaign took place at the indoor basket court of Royal Thimphu College, Thimphu. I, as one of the student leaders as well as a scout member, served as the refreshment servers to all the donors. Moreover, I myself donated the blood after proper verification and screening process.
This project might have probably benefitted about 100 people. First of all, this project eased the work of the health officials in coordination of the blood donation campaign. Secondly, our service greatly helped the college management fulfill their aim of hosting blood donation campaign every year. Furthermore, the blood I and other donors donated will greatly benefit the needy people.
I learnt that we do not have to necessarily do a big work to save lives and make a difference in people's lives. Even this simple act of blood donation can make difference in the lives of fellow-humans. Moreover, another lesson I learnt is that some of the people's fear that they will fall sick if they donate blood is not true as I have donated myself and I am completely fine. This taught me the lesson that sometimes, our fear hold us from doing the right thing and that we must overcome it.
