Our veld is dumpsite and litter free!

The area surrounding our Scout Hall in Bloemfontein is a beautiful piece of open land with many trees and lush natural vegetation. Unfortunately, it has become a hotspot for dumping rubbish, old appliances, and equipment. Our Scouts and cubs wanted to help restore the area to its natural and beautiful state, for all to enjoy.
Our Scouts and Cubs took to the veld on a typical Bloemfontein summers afternoon to clean up this beautiful piece of nature surrounding their Scout hall and the main road outside the hall. The scouts started the project off by cleaning up the main road and they then lead the cubs in picking up all the litter such as bottles, chip packets, and cans in the veld. They were in for a surprise when they came across a dump spot with lawnmowers, geysers, and bed springs!
The residents of Dan Pienaar can now drive on the main road knowing it has been cleaned up and there is less litter! All those who enjoy the veld can now enjoy it in its natural beauty and litter and dump-free.
It was an eye-opener to see how carelessly people dump rubbish and old equipment and do not dispose of it correctly. Our Scouts and Cubs made sure they voiced their disgust while cleaning up the dump-site, and will be more conscious of the impact of litter and dumping.
