National Challenge 2021 - Glenashley

This project forms part of the Scouts South Africa, National Challenge for the Cub Programme. It is a wonderful initiative that focusses on 4 SDG's a year. Each SDG is broken up into smaller, manageable projects . We do this Challenge annually. This year we did SDG6, 7, 8 & 11. The goal is continually educate the children about sustainability and for it to become second nature to look after own 1 world.
In addition to all the learnings that was done, we also carried out multiple projects With the help of our Dad's we built Tippy Taps for a community near our scout hall that does not currently have running water. We made fireballs from recycled paper We did beach and neighborhood cleanups and we participated in the International Beach cleanup which involved categorizing each piece of litter collected. We ran a career evening and invited parents to inspire our kids.
The tippy taps were donated to a locale community to ensure clean hands especially during this pandemic. Cleaning up our beaches and neighborhoods has improved the state of our oceans, rivers and communities.
How to reuse and recycle items - tippy taps and fireballs How easy it is to just give back and be part of a community that cares. What our future holds and how to safeguard it
