Morton, Illinois Giving Garden/Community Garden
The Morton Giving Garden is planted and maintained by the Tazewell County Master Gardeners on land set aside by the Morton Park District. The Garden grows over 2000 pounds of fresh vegetables annually, all donated to central Illinois food banks for distribution throughout central Illinois. Cub Scout Pack 76 (Bear Den) is part of a pilot project to establish a "children's garden" section of the graden, growing beans, carrots, and tomatos. The Bear Den prepared, planted, and maintained their graden to grow vegetables for donations to local food banks to provide fresh vegetables to families requiring food assistance.
