MESSENGERS OF PEACE- COMMUNITY OUTREACH (STATION 1)

MESSENGERS OF PEACE- COMMUNITY OUTREACH (STATION 1)

I was introduced about MESSENGERS OF PEACE initiative in my scout stage one training at Namosau Methodist Primary School in Ba, Fiji Islands. The facilitator presented some very interesting things about MOP which really inspired me as a scout leader. Every scout should be a messenger of peace! This was what came into my mind when the presentation was going on. I decided to spread this message of peace and the programme to the remote areas of my school. Being a teacher in the highlands of Ba made my work even more easier. With prior approval from my head of school and the village chief, I started this progaramme. My first station was a settlement near my school named Nabutini. I engaged 30 people from that area which included primary and secondary school students, elderly people and youth group. Females were gievn the equal opportunity as well.

I started the programme with short discussion on scouts and the work they do in their respective communities and nations. Group activities were done such as:

-How we can be a MESSENGER OF PEACE.

-Alele activity

- MOP networking game

-stories of struggle- mostly the females took part in this activity whereby they shared how important peace and harmony is in a family, community and country at large.

The programme turned out to be a great success and I decided to continue this in other parts of my area. (NAKOROBOYA VILLAGE)
