Mercy House Service by Pack 5 AOLs!
The scouts in the Arrow of Light den recognize that there is a growing homeless population in Ann Arbor. They decided that they would like to serve their community by organizing a dinner for the homeless at the local Mercy House.
Working with Mercy House, the Arrow of Light den organized a dinner. They each chose and prepared a dish to serve to the homeless. They cooked the dish on their own and they brought it to Mercy House to serve the homeless and to bring fellowship.
In all, over 20 individuals were fed both at Mercy House and as part of their meal delivery service. The scouts and their parents enjoyed conversations with the homeless. Both the scouts and those fed were impacted positively by the experience.
Hunger in the Ann Arbor community is a real issue and there is a real need for scouts and other community groups to work with local organizations. Aside from food, Mercy House has additional service needs including laundry service and clothing donation. Pack 5 will work to meet these needs and to make service a regular occurrence with our Pack.
