MENTAL HEALTH AMBASSASORS TRAINING-MOP

After learning that mental health issues are affecting young people and that suicide cases were rising alarmingly, we designed an initiative called "It's Okay Not to Be Okay" to promote open conversations around mental health. We believe that through young people, we can build a strong movement to break stigma. With support from Messengers of Peace funds, we are amplifying the initiative by training 30 Mental Health Ambassadors.
We brought together 30 young people from various Scout groups for a three-day Mental Health training. Scouts gained skills and knowledge on mental health, including how to identify individuals experiencing mental health distress and how to create a safe environment where people can freely express their feelings and emotions. They also learned the signs and symptoms of suicide risk. After the training, these young people returned to their communities to share the knowledge with fellow Scouts
Young people have what it takes to drive positive change in their communities. While mental health remains one of the biggest challenges communities face today, young people are a powerful force for change when they lead mental health conversations. I also learned that every small action counts in creating a safe and supportive environment for mental health
