Medical Equipment Sent To Thailand From Canada

Scouts Canada and its partners have despatched a 20 foot container of medical supplies to the village of Doi Chang in Northern Thailand. Although built ten years ago by the government of Thailand to be the medical centre in the village of Doi Chang, unfortunately the facility was not provided with any medical equipment or supplies. In 2011, some Scouts Canada Messengers of Peace Scouts and Scouters from Alberta began looking at finding funding and supplying medical equipment and supplies to provide the villagers with basic health care.  More recently the villagers began an initiative for elderly health care and we now work with the municipal government to provide resources as well as some funding.   Doi Chang Village medical facility is currently unequipped to provide local residents medical services beyond verybasic health care. Expected to arrive in early July, the medical container will bring over 230 pieces of equipment and supplies required to enhance the facility’s available medical services. The health centre will receive dental equipment & supplies, an ultrasound machine, fetal monitor, maternity and delivery beds for neonatal and childbirth care as well general hospitals items such as beds, gurneys, operating table, blankets, gowns, wheelchairs, instrument kits and scrub sets for individuals requiring general or in-patient hospital visits.
