Maintaining road and footpath for peace

Our king always use to say, 'Don't ask what country can give to you, rather ask what you can do for the country.' Keeping this in mind, the project was planned and executed.

The project was implemented in Khoyar Primary School. The road that connects the school and the other village was so pathetic. So, we planned to re-maintain the road for everyone's safety. First the rocks were collected from the river side. Then the road was dig up to make the rocks stable and durable.

Second we constructed a footpath for students safety. During monsoon season the footpath that connects students dining hall and the toilet becomes so muddy that they can't even walk. So, reconstructed the footpath for students to walk safely.

First 2 days we collected all the raw materials required for the maintenance of road and footpath. Next 2 days we spent on maintaining road and last 1 day was spent to construct a safe footpath for the children.

Around 5000 people benefited from the project. This people are those who visits the school most of the time. It includes parents, officials from Dzongkhag and gewog and other stakeholders. In general it benefited the people in the community.

From this project I learned that I could contribute to the community and the country in many ways instead of expecting and waiting for the country to do for me. For example maintaining roads and footpaths for the safety of the people is contribution to the country and the community. This is something we can do in our level.
