A little goes a long way #bagsofhope
Every year for Mandela Day the Cubs of the 1st Bryanston Friday and Saturday Packs come together to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate people in their community. This year the Cubs heard SCOUTS South Africa's call to make jars or bags of hope to provide warm meals during the cold winter months.
The Cubs brought some of the ingredients from home. During the Friday / Saturday programme they worked in teams to make the bags of hope, which were then delivered to the Bryanston Methodist church who will use them as part of their feeding scheme and soup kitchen. The church cooks a hot meal twice a week for the under privileged people in the community. They will also add the bags of hope to food parcels which they hand out to the less fortunate.
The Cubs each brought a few contributions and by making the bags of hope together, they learned teamwork and got to realise that everybody’s contribution goes a long way. They also learned it is good to do a good turn to others wherever you can. A little goes a long way.
