Laksha Deepam or Lakshadeepam literally means hundred thousand lamps (or one lakh lamps). This is done as a Prayer for Peace & Prosperity. The Project took 72 days to be lighted. The Project was planned by my fiance Smt. Rupa. To begin the project we had to make 1 lakh lamps, it took us around 40 days to make the lamps made out of maida. This was made possible by the women of diesel colony of around 37 members. And the next barrier is making 1 lakh cotton wicks to be placed in the lamps. This took around 30 days for us to complete the whole thing. These many wicks were completely made by my fiance Smt. Rupa and with the help of my two daughters. The 3rd barrier is lighting all the 1 lakh+ lamps simultaneously at the same time in one place. I took the responsibility of this and with the help of my 53 SCRMU members, i made it possible. We selected a ground nearby which is far enough to hold all the lamps. It took us around 10 days to clean and prepare the ground for the occasion. And the day before the occasion we placed all the 1 lakh+ lamps on the ground in 27 rows, so that it is easily lighted by others. On the day of occasion i.e on 6th of November 2014 we poured oil and placed the cotton wicks into each of the 1 lakh+ lamps. And by around 6 pm we started the event of lighting all the 1 lakh+ lamps. It just took 10 mins for the whole lamps to be lighted, as many devotees were participated in the event. No natural calamities disturbed our event. Number of participants:- i. Planning: 2 ii.
