KUKU INUA is to empower through chicken farming.

When it comes to marginalized groups, we can spend hours describing the type of assistance widows in Arusha, Tanzania, would need. Both old and young widows are unaware of their rights, their children's rights and in the villages are still burdened with cultural practices. We believe in giving opportunities, a platform, a network of peers and organised education to the young widows community and push them to articulate their thoughts on the changes, challenges and disposition in their community.
Kuku Inua is going to be a 7 week project aimed to educate and empower widows on chicken farming as a sustainable source of income, with facilitators who have been successful in the chicken farming industry. The women will be educated on incubation, feed, medicating, packaging and marketing chickens, to learn about business financing through loans and getting profit. Plenty of widows are willing to learn and do business, but what they lack are financial capabilities for implementation.
With an increasing number of widows daily, due to more illnesses and diseases such as COVID or accidents leading to death due to motorcycle and bajaj businesses, our goal is to educate, connect and economically empower widows through this project for sustainability and independence. This project can go on for as long as it becomes a domino effect whereby one of the participants will share their knowledge in their community.
Youth In Mind has managed to interlace ‘ Social Responsibility’ along with economic empowerment within this same project. In order to empower widows to advance in life, we believe that… Education by giving these widows a formal hub to learn how to start and manage a small business. Business Entrepreneurship with the education from professional entrepreneurs in a similar industry develops particular skills to build businesses while creating a network.
