KBL 2023: Scouts Helping People During Eid Al-Fitr
Karya Bakti Lebaran 2023 (KBL 2023) is an event held by the National Council of Scout Movement in Indonesia before, during, and after Eid Al-Fitr. Through this event, we, especially Rover and Ranger Scouts in Yogyakarta, could devote ourselves to help people.
Here in Yogyakarta, we opened three KBL 2023 posts on 18-20 and 24-27 of April 2023. Located at the Tugu Pal Putih, Teteg Abu Bakar Ali, and Titik Nol Kilometer Kota Yogyakarta, we divided it into two shifts working from 08.00 till 14.00 for the first shift and 14.00 till 20.00 for the second shift, 12 hours per day. There are around 4 to 8 Rover and Ranger Scouts, accompanied by Regency Rover and Ranger Council per shift per post in collaboration with the local police and health department.
Around the Eid-Al Fitr season, people get holidays, free from school and work activities. They usually return to their hometown, have fun with their families, and visit tourist attraction. As Scouts, we help people to cross the street, give them directions for those who confused, help the police direct traffic, educate people about their health and safety, and much more. More than1000 people helped by our action.
From KBL 2023, we know that we can do and help many people through our actions as Scouts. Collaborating with local police and health department could improve our social skills to build better relations. Helping people around makes us aware that what we think is small could be a big thing or a big help to others. So as Scouts, we can do bigger and bigger things to devote ourselves to the environment and the people around us. Can't wait to join Karya Bakti Lebaran again next year!
