The state level gathering to popularize the Messengers of Peace initiate in the state of Karnataka titled Karnataka startup and networking is being held at Dr.Annie Besant Park from 2nd January 2014. In this gathering we have 75 participants representing 26 district associations of Karnataka are participating. The participants represent a mixture of professionals, volunteers, teachers, students and freelancers Shri M.A.Khalid, The State Secretary of Karnataka State BS&G is the Gathering Director. Shri Shree Prassanna Srivastava, Director, Finance and global support, WOSM/APR Region is specially deputed by the Regional Office as Resource Person. Mr. Krishnaswamy, MoP Inida Coordinator was deputed by national headquarters as Resource Person. Shri N. Srinivasan , Headquarters Commissioner(S) BSg Kar, Mr.Gary James ,SOC (S) Meghalaya, Mr.Saratraj from Tamilnadu worked as felicitators of the gathering. Ms. Yamini H worked as the Office Secretary. A team of professionals and volunteers from Karnataka worked to provide required logistics for the success of the gathering. The participants were integrated during the first session on 2nd January 2014, the personal expectations of participants were collected and gathering objectives were discussed. The Formal inauguration of the Gathering was held at 1000 hours on 2nd January,2014. Shri K.B. Shanmukhappa, State Chief Commissioner of Karnataka was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Gathering Director and International Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides Shri M.A .Khalid welcomed the gathering. Shri S. Prassanna delivered key note address. Shri N. Srinivasan, Headquarter Commissioner proposed vote of thanks. Mr. T S Lucas, State Commissioner(S) Addressed the gathering on day 1. Formal sessions covering the concept of Messengers of Peace, Registering in the WOSM web site, uploading the activities/ projects / success story in the web site. Organizing the orientation for young people on MoP , planning of activity for peace initiatives etc were conducted during the past 3 days. An opportunity to interact with young people and initiate them to the Messengers of Peace. 180 Scouts and Guides local units of Bangalore were oriented and 64 new members were registered in the WOSM website. An educational tour was organized to visit Bangalore. The enthusiastic participants organized Road shows on Messengers of Peace. Each group had an opportunity to prepare a project on peace initiatives suitable to their local community. The Role of Coordinators for Messengers of Peace was discussed and finalized. The logistics for the gathering was well managed by the Karnataka state association to keep the international standards. The Valedictory of the gathering being held now we are fortunate enough to have our beloved National Commissioner Shri B.I. Nagarale as the Chief Guest for this ceremoneythis is his maiden visit to the State Karnataka after assuming the Office of National Commissioner. Shri Kondajji B Shanmukhappa, State Chief Commissioner was our inspiration as Advisor of the Gathering. Shri M.A.Khalid, the International Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Steered the gathering successfully as its Director. The team under the leadership of Madhusudan A S Project Leader made tireless efforts to get things done in time for effective conduct of the gathering.
