Jobweek - Scout All Around Singapore Go Out To Work To Help Others

Chief Scout of Singapore, President Tony Tan Keng Yam, launched the Annual Job Week on Thursday 13th March 2014 @ 1100 hrs at Jamiyah Home for the Aged (Darul Takrim). This year’s launch is at a home for the aged, instead of the Istana, as we would like to take the opportunity of Job Week for our scouts to do their part in caring for those who need help in the community. The basic objective of the Job Week is character training and building, to inculcate in the Scouts the dignity of labour and the value of honest work. “Dignity in labour and honest work will go a long way in developing and nurturing the Scouts to be better leaders and citizens of tomorrow”, emphasized Scout Chief Commissioner Tan Cheng Kiong. Job Week 2014 took place between Sat 15 March and Friday 21 March 2014. During this period, some 10,000 Scouts, ranging from 8 to 18 years fanned out the island and knock on the doors of residences and offices to seek jobs to raise funds for scouting in Singapore.
