International Day of Peace, Climate Action for peace
To mark the International Day of Peace, the activity started on 20th September, with the introduction of brief history of IDoP to the Nachung scouts and Cheychey scouts. It was followed by art competition amongst the Six based on the theme “Climate Action for peace”.
For the main day, the program started at 9:00 AM. The Nachung Scouts in a group of three led by the Scout leaders and CBS members (teachers) visited the nearby village, houses and shops and created awareness on waste management and shared the importance of the day. Cleaning campaign was also carried along with the awareness program. During the campaign, the villagers were made to commit that they will make two pits(one for degradable and the other for non-degradable) and will not burn the plastic and other waste. They were asked to reduce the use of plastics or to collect the used plastics in a safe place and campaigners also committed that the Nachung scouts will visit again to collect their plastic waste once a month.
The cheychey scouts were engaged in mass cleaning of the school campus and areas nearby school, which was followed by plantation along the landslide prone zones below the playground.
