International Coastal Cleanup 2021

After the government's announcement of the recovery phase, Malaysians were allowed to relax and cross the district. Initially, many locals have visited recreational places, especially beach areas. However, due to the large number of visitors, a lot of garbage was dumped everywhere and left. Today, we Kelana Scouts have taken the initiative to be involved in beach clean -up activities in conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup 2021, located in Pasir Panjang, Petra Jaya district of Sarawak.
Our beach cleaning project is located in Kampung Pasir Panjang, petra jaya district, Sarawak. The number who participated in this project was 13 people and 3 local residents. We cannot invite too many scouts due to maintaining compliance with the Covid19 SOP.
Benefiting from this project, we have made a breakdown of what waste is most abundant on the beach. We have also found plastic materials to eat and drink the most as daily visitors come for recreation. Both of us found cigarette butts and were followed by face masks and the like.
In the future, we plan to create awareness campaigns on environmental pollution. We want to educate the current generation that we are not in mind class 3. We are able to maintain cleanliness and prevent covid disease, but why not be able to protect the environment from human actions ?. We must cultivate the interest of the current generation to love nature.
