Internation Day of Peace on theme " Climate Action".....21st September 2019

Gelephu Lower Secondary School marked the International Day of Peace on theme “ Climate Action for Peace”  on 21st September,2019.  The total of 168 participants (148 Nazheon scouts, 14 scout leaders and 6 volunteer teacher of GLSS)  took part in marking the  day. The day went smoothly and was successful as per the plan.

The objectives of the program was

  • Highlight the importance of  international Day of peace on theme “Climate Action for Peace”.
  • Conduct peace walk around the Gelephu Town to create awareness  and educate about
  • waste management.
  • how to prevent from dengue fever.
  •  importance of peace.
  • cleaning campaign

how to manage waste and create peace.

 

The day program began around 8:15 AM by lighting of 108 butter lamp by chief guest, teachers, scout leaders and members in MPH of Gelephu LSS, followed by giving speeches by scout members  and chief guest on the importance of day in English and Dzongkhag.

After that  short meditation and prayer was conducted for welling being  of all sentient being on world and peaceful conduct of the  day program.

Exactly at 9:00 AM all the four troop of Nazheon scouts along with their troop leaders gathered  in front of MPH and started peace walk from school till vegetable market with banners, posters having messages of peace and climate action.

During peace walk the  people around were advocated about waste management, how to prevent from dengue fever and about the importance of peace. They also carried out cleaning campaign along the road side.

After reaching at the chosen spot, the scout members have performed few culture programs and create awareness to  the vendors, customers and laborers on how to manage waste and to create peace among themselves.
