I Can See Clearly Now!
If your eyesight starts to fail, you won't be able to see things clearly. And for some of us, it's not due to age but also due to hereditary causes. And when that happens, you will need spectacles or optical aid. However, spectacles are costly and many people who need them aren't able to get them because of the price.
On June 5 2022, I volunteered with Have Hope ( a Ba’hai community project group) in repurposing donated spectacles for the Somali refugees. They had volunteers recycle spectacles and their boxes prior to the event.
On that day, I helped checked their vision, prescribed them with a corresponding spectacle and they got to choose a box for it.
There was a girl who was so happy to be able to see again! She kept repeating excitedly, “I can see! I can see!”
We were able to give out more than 100 pairs of spectacles which meant that 100 people could see CLEARLY again on that day alone.
Giving the gift of Sight meant giving people the ability to see clearly. Such a great feeling!
May the Scouting Spirit live on!
