Hydroponic Planting Project
The hydroponic planting project was carried out by 50 Junior High School Scout participants at Pa Agus' Garden, located at Kilometer 11, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The activity took place from 5 July to 11 July, 08:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (WITA). Before planting, participants received an introduction to hydroponic farming, including its benefits, the importance of clean water, and the correct planting techniques. Each participant was provided with hydroponic seedlings, growing media.
Participants planted the seedlings by placing them into net pots filled with growing media, carefully positioning the roots so they could absorb the nutrient solution. The net pots were then placed into the hydroponic system, and the nutrient water level was checked to ensure the roots could grow properly. Participants also monitored the plants by checking the nutrient solution, water level, and overall plant condition regularly.
The project benefited around 100 people by promoting sustainable agriculture, healthy food production, and environmental awareness.
The hydroponic planting project successfully introduced participants to modern and sustainable farming methods. It improved their teamwork, responsibility, and practical agricultural skills while encouraging environmental care and supporting local food sustainability.
