Hermanus Scouts make 220 meals for the homeless

In the Western Cape we have cold rainy winters. A soup drive often alleviates hunger, gives warmth and hope. We decided to donate the soup to the Hermanus Night shelter in support of our 1st Hermanus Scout Tanique's community service project which includes a food and toiletry drive.
Patrol Leaders asked their Patrol members to donate specified soup ingredients and bring cooking utensils and pots. In anticipation of the annual Mandela Day 67 min of service campaign, the Scouts had 67 minutes to prepare, cook and package the soup. Additional time was allocated for clean-up and delivery of the 220 servings of soup to the night shelter. The soup was frozen so the night shelter can serve it to their inhabitants over a period of time.
We learned that a little goes a long way if we all give what we have and do what we can.
