Helping a school with firewood.

Gomdar Central School under Samdrupjongkhar is a boarding school and the school heavily rely on firewood to cook meals for students. Due to heavy rainfall there was road block in the community which hampered in timely supply of firewood to school. Due to insufficient firewood at school we volunteered to collect and fetch firewood washed away by the river located near school.
The project was organized in a school located under Samdrupjongkhar District. The school currently has around 662 students and 65 staff. We discussed and after forming two groups, we went to collect firewood from two different locations. By afternoon we had collected firewood enough for a week. Then we also helped in transportation of firewood to school.
The project directly benefited all students and staff of the school. Few community people also came to volunteer for the service and they helped the school in transportation of the firewood to school in their truck. Collaboration between school and community was also possible due to such kind of project.
Coordination and collaboration skills were some important things I learnt after participating in this project.
