Helping Others through Caritas

The project initiated with an idea from local religious community requesting help in respect of the struggles that Covid-19 brought that is with food and attire for the poor families. The project was called "Libbes u Itma" to feed and help wear clothes. The charity institution needed all sorts of help to make this happen and succeed for equal distribution of the clothing donated and cleaned and also open a new shop with these clothes with very cheap prices or with donation vouchers.
The project was done in a huge place in Xaghajra in the Southern region of Malta. The team used to go either together or standalone sorting the clothes by season and by gender as well as new or seconds as per Covid protocol permitted. The hours done were registered by Caritas ( a charitable institution) and by the Rover Commissioner. Clothes then were sorted into boxes waiting for delivery to te washing zones and then to be delivered in the shop.
The impact of the project was huge because there were days whilst we were working that other volunteers from other associations who visited us and helped too and the shop managed to be opened.
The sacrifice needed for such a project and the fact that you know in deep that people out there need this help makes you already a better person. In deep I would have changed the way it was managed by the charitable institution since they continued bringing donations without control and thus sometimes it was not manageable with the huge piles.
