Go Green!!! Organic Garden
It is a project attended by 60 scouts from various higher education institutions across Malaysia to spread awareness on organic gardens. The project was also attended by 50 kid scouts from Sk Kelibang, Langkawi and 18 high school scouts from Indonesia. Based on our knowledge, we believe this project will create awareness and impact on the community and the world. In 'Organic Garden in School with Kids', we build a garden using eco-friendly materials.
5 aim for enviromen education in Scouting and the World Scout Environmental Award
Aim 1: People and natural systems have clean water and clean air.
Lead by: En. Mohd Zaidi bin Mohd Jaafar (Lab Assistant FSSM UMT)
Activity: Healthy Land Heathy Air
By using Indoor Air Quality Meter (IAQ) and Climomaster to measure speed/ quality of air in Langkawi state.
Aim 2: Sufficient natural habitat exists to support native species.

Activity: Plant Exploration
Every participants have explore and discuss various type of plant that we have seen throughout Kembara Bumi Langkawi expedition. The participants need to collect the species that they found and identify them.
The plants that I’ve fount and identify:
- Papaya Tree
Papaya leaves contain enzymes papain that helpful in prevent stomach ulcers. - Curry Tree
Curry leaves are rich with vitamin A that can be help hair growth.
Temu Pauh Tree - Temu Pauh tree have many benefit, such as treats nerves, reduces cholesterol and hypertension and helps digestion process and reduce blockage in blood vessels tract.
- Hibiscus
Hibiscus are rich with powerful antioxidants and may also help prevent damage and disease cause by the buildup of free radicals - Coconut Tree
A good source of sugar, fibre, antioxidants, proteins, vitamins and minerals makes it a popular sports drink providing energy, hydration, and endurance. It helps restore any electrolyte imbalances caused by diarrhea, vomiting and after exercising. - Chromolaena Odorata
This plant can be use to treat burns, wounds, and skin infections. Furthermore, it has also been shown to possess anti-hepatotoxic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. - Thai Basil
Thai Basil fortifies the digestive and nervous system and can be a good remedy for headaches and insomnia. - Mango Tree
Mango leaves are very useful for managing diabetes. The tender leaves of the mango tree contain tannins called anthocyanidins that may help in treating early diabetes. - Chilli Tree
Chillies are loaded with antioxidant, that protect the body against free radicals by acting as natural scavengers. Chillies can also keep prostate problems at bay. - Ixora
The flowers are ground well and mixed along with coconut oil. It is boiled and prepared as medicinal oil. This oil is helpful in conditions like scabies, eczema, pruritis and other skin infections.
Aim 3: The risk of harmful substances to people and the environment are minimized.

Activity: Road Clean Up
Participants of Kembara Bumi Langkawi had been provided with garbage bag to collect the trash along the road. At the end of that activity the weigh of the garbage had been taken to decide which team collect the most. At the end of the programme, the winner had been announced.
Aim 4: The most suitable environmental practices are used.

Activity: Let’s Go Organic! Talk
Talk by En. Kamal Saad, officer from Jabatan Pertanian Langkawi. The topic that been delivered are about the benefits of organic and its uses. There been demonstration on application of organic fertilizer.
Aim 5: People are prepared to respond to environmental hazards and natural disasters

Activity: Better Tomorrow
Every group need to discuss on how to save the world for a better tomorrow. They need to identify different types of environmental hazard by using poster and post it online. Every group also need to demonstrate how to help people prepare to face natural disaster and play an act based on the scenario of natural disaster.
My group got task to discuss about land slide, why it happen and how to prevent it. Our scenario was about a reporter interview few local residential nearby the land slide accident.
