GES Scouts and EDU Community Gives Back
The Boy Scouts of Guimbala-on ES Troop 2773 wished to share their blessings to the families and children of Purok Mansiguinon, Barangay Guimbala-on, Silay City during the Christmas Season through gift-giving.
Troop 2773 partnered with the Supreme Pupil Government, Girls Scouts of the Philippines, the barangay LGU, and the teachers to gather up goods and financial augmentation to purchase various items such as rice, food ingredients for the beneficiaries' noche buena, and cash prizes.The Scouts transported these goods via government vehicles to the community, held a short program with games and prizes. To top off the activity, we distributed the items we have gathered to the 150 beneficiaries.
We were able to distribute the goods to 150 individual beneficiaries summing up to 30 families and gave them something to celebrate for their Christmas noche buena. The children also received special gifts to open on Christmas Eve.
From this project, I learned how important forging partnerships and teaming up with like-minded organizations and groups to create ripples of movement within our communities.
