Fostering mental health for adults in scouting
The pandemic has affected us both socially and individually. Since volunteers are already experiencing instability in their personal lives and in scouting at this time, we thought of creating a context in which to support adult volunteers.
The ”Fostering mental health for adults in scouting” project aimed to ensure mental health among adult leaders and volunteers, scouts and non-scouts in a pandemic context.
The project took place online through:
- a training framework for Scout leader by creating and providing 10 e-learnings on topics of national interest for our NSO;
- creating and providing contexts for increasing the quality of life and ensuring the fostering of mental health for our adults in Scouting through 8 webinars;
- a campaign to encourage volunteering during the state of emergency;
We are glad that through this project we managed to be alongside our adult leaders and volunteers in an uncertain period, in which they needed guidance and support. We had a number of direct beneficiaries over the estimated one.
The online session campaign was very well received by adult volunteers and we plan to replicate it in the near future. At the same time, this project was a favourable context to develop other online modules and create new opportunities for volunteers.
We learned that adults are just as affected by the pandemic as children and young people, even though this is felt differently. We also learned that the online environment is accessible to a lot of people and we are glad that this project reached a large number of people and offered the opportunity to participate and learn.
