Folktale and Stories for Peace   นิทานสร้างสรรค์ปัญญา  เพื่อ สันติภาพ                     In order to promote peace pursuant to the World Scout’s Messenger of Peace Project, the Thai Messenger of Peace group found out that young and old Thai people are still fond of folktales. Folktales were used as tools for developing morale, kindness, good behavior among millions of children over thousands of years in many countries of the world, such as in Buddhist Jataka, the Arabian Nights, Aesop’s fables including Thai, Chinese,  Japanese,  Korean,  African,  Australian  and European folktales.                   The Thai Scouts Promotion  Foundation and Thai Messengers of Peace group selected folktales that promote peace and friendship both in-country and overseas, translated them into Thai language and then circulated daily through social media such as internet, facebook and line in modern telephone. So far, the responses from the audiences were favorable and it was quite amazing that some of the daily followers are over 60 years old.                   We think that this practice may apply to the Scout’s Messenger of Peace program in the other countries as well as similar procedure could be undertaken by translating peace oriented folktales into their own language and have them publicized through social media, scout meeting and scout campfire .
