Flood Relief Mission, Kuala Muda & Yan

Malaysia was shocked by the mud flood which has affected the area around Gunung Jerai involving Kuala Muda and Yan district. this mud flood has caused almost 3000 government and private houses and buildings to be affected and suffered losses and property damage. In connection with that, Kedah Rovers Scouts feel called to carry out community service activities involving cleaning work and contribution of daily necessary goods.
The project began with the Kedah Rovers having to make a visit to the scene to identify what form of assistance was needed. After that, two groups of volunteers were formed to be sent to the two affected locations to do the washing work. A group was sent to distribute essential items such as mattresses and electrical goods to residential areas as a result of close cooperation with Pahang Rovers and Kedah Rovers.
As a result of assistance from the Kedah and Pahang Rovers Scouts, a total of 300 households, 2 schools and 2 recreation centers have received assistance in terms of cleaning work and basic necessities. The assistance extended by the rovers scout team has eased the burden of the locals as it is not easy to get on with life after this mud flood tragedy as many properties have been damaged. In this regard, they were very grateful and thankful for the help extended by the rovers scout team.
This incident has opened many eyes of certain parties on the importance of preserving the environment in maintaining environmental sustainability. It's not easy to get back on track after this tragedy as Malaysia is still plagued by the pandemic which has affected all parties. In addition, this also proves the role of youth is very important in a community. Cooperation and partnership of various parties such as scout teams and other NGOs is also the key to the success of this program.
