Exchange Programme & Tropical Rain Forest Camping-Canada, Singapore & Malaysia Scouts
A Group of Scouts with 11 members from 116th East Vancouver, Canada Scouts came to Malaysia for excursion and adventure.
They came to Kulai, Johor Bahru Areas on 31 Jul 2016 (Fri), we programmed their exchange with our K66 troop from 1 Aug, 2016, from 11:30 - 14:30 PM, and after group photos, we departed for Sg Palepah, Kota Tinggi, Rainforest for climbing to the mountain area deep in the tropical jungle.
It took everyone to walk & climb for about 3.5 - 4 hours to reach the camp side, deep in the jungle. In total, we 25 people, local K66 scouts & Rover scouts to guide and take care of them for all the necessary camping equipment, tents, hammocks, cooking utensils, lights, transport, foods.
We enjoyed cooking, small camp fire, and gathering time in the jungle.
I was in charge of transport, cooking while I also took along my Akela son Zhenjue to be with us into the jungle. That possibly made him one of the few Singapore cub scouts who has experienced jungle night.
This event showed virtue value of global scouting brotherhood, this trip has covered and proven such linkage amongst Malaysians, Canadians and Singapore cub scout.
Next time if we have a chance to visit Vancouver, we shall visit our Bros & SIs over there to explore something different in the icy world!
