Environmental Justice: A Mock Trial Analysis
I was inspired to start this project to raise awareness about environmental issues and the impact of human actions on nature. I wanted to help people understand environmental responsibility in a more engaging and practical way. The idea of using a mock trial came from the need to connect justice and environmental protection, encouraging critical thinking and reflection.
The project was carried out through the organization of a mock trial about an environmental crime. Participants were divided into roles such as judge, prosecution, defense, and jury. Over 30 days, the team researched the topic, prepared arguments, and developed their roles. The trial was then conducted, including opening statements, debates, and a final jury representative speech, followed by the judge’s decision.
Through this project, I learned the importance of environmental responsibility and how human actions can impact ecosystems. I also developed skills in teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. The mock trial helped me understand how justice can be applied to environmental issues and how different perspectives can influence decisions.
