Working in conjunction with the 31st Masonic District of Berkshire County, the Appalachian Trail District Commissioner Staff decided to work in tandem on a CHIP (Child Identification Program). It was arranged to develope a program with the Masons and have other Scouting enteties work with the youth present to build a community feeling, but also work with the youth on proper preparation in case of emergencies, knowing what to do and what to call. The Commissioners staff worked with the local school districts to put the information out to the Cub Scout aged children. Fliers were distributed to all elementary school students around Berkshire County to encourage others that Scouts to participate. The Commissioner staff brought together varous other members of the Scouting community to help out. Venture Crew 007 was recruited to talk with children about personal safety and also to do face painting, coloring and other activities. Another member of the Commissioner staff also did fingerprinting animals to have fun. The activity was held at a centralized location in Berkshire County, MA. From 9am to 4pm on March 30th  the Masonic Temple was opened to have Scouts, Scouters, children and families come through. It was nice to see so many people present.
