Donation Drive for Valenzuela PH Fire Victims

Before dawn last March 13, 2022, a fire broke out in a residential area in Brgy. Arkong Bato, Valenzuela City, Philippines, affecting around 300 families. To give back to the community that honed future leaders in the way of scouting, the Eagle Scout Association of Valenzuela hosted a donation drive for the affected families.
The members of ESAV posted pub mats of calls for donations for the affected families and contributed as well to the said calls. The organization was able to collect Php 3,466.86 in the monetary donation and in-kind donations in the form of food supplies. The organization then decided to convert the monetary donation into hygiene kits.
With the number of donations that our organization has received, we estimate that around 60 people have benefited from this project. This may help them in providing their basic living and hygiene supplies for a few weeks as the local government concerned is still doing the necessary actions for the affected families.
Helping other people in need is definitely a fulfilling experience, especially for someone who leads such a large community-based project for the first time. Holding a donation drive for victims of any tragic event opens our eyes on our privileges compared to others, thus we shall always help other people if we can.
