Don Bosco Year End Camping

Last February 28 to March 1 the Bosconinans from different year levels successfully took part of the annual year end camping held at Don Bosco School grounds with the theme “Scouting education for life”. The camp started with the short opening remarks and guidelines by the P.O.D. Mr. Pablo Ramos Jr.and Mr. Rey Fabian. After the opening remarks, the students were given time to pitch their tents in their areas for them to prepare for the next activities. The next activity was the survival cooking which allowed the chosen participants to cook bread and egg with the use of paper, mud, and barbecue sticks. As this activity is being done, poster making about the theme was being done at the same time. Afterwards, tables were set up per section for the boodle fight.Fire and earthquake drills were incorporated within the program to make and remind students about being aware and be skilled in applying basic life support techniques. A short seminar on hygiene was also included subsequently, which added new learning for the scouts as they were handed out soaps and sanitary pads for women. The evening program began with the campfire ceremony followed by the performances of the different sections showcasing their yell, cheer, and talents. As the evening program ended, the students started with morning exercises around the school. The students then participated in the Eucharistic Celebration led by Fr. Joey Paduyao. After the mass, the scouts ate their breakfast prepared by their assigned grub masters that filled them up for the next activity, which was the knot tying activity enabling the scouts to apply skills learned from their scouting subjects. They also were challenged by navigating an obstacle course which was pretty challenging, fun, and informative at some point (scouting can be military training). The students then ate lunch, packed their things, to end the activities. We hope that bosconians can faithfully live up to their role as scouts by following the scout slogan “Once a scout, Always a Scout”.
