Dialogue for Intercultural Harmony at Watsuthiwararam

This project was to empower Boy Scouts to use dialogue and Scouting methods as tools for empathy, trust, and intercultural understanding. It sought to encourage scouts to listen with empathy, explore how perceptions and misperceptions can create barriers, and strengthen respect for cultural diversity.

28 Boy Scouts at Watsuthiwararam School took part in a project on intercultural understanding and perceptions, exploring how stereotypes and misperceptions can create barriers between people. Through interactive activities and story-sharing, they practiced listening with empathy and learned to appreciate cultural diversity. The project created a safe space for dialogue and connection, helping them realize that respecting differences is an important step toward harmony and stronger relationships in their community.

The scouts engaged in team-building games, patrol-based group challenges, and outdoor activities that encouraged cooperation and trust. Alongside these, they joined story-sharing circles and reflective exercises, where they practiced listening with empathy and learned to value cultural diversity. They also experienced different learning methods of Scouting, such as learning by doing, teamwork through patrol systems, and character-building activities that reinforced responsibility and leadership. The project created a safe space for dialogue and connection, helping the scouts recognize that respecting differences is a vital step toward harmony, teamwork, and stronger relationships within their community.

The project enabled scouts to strengthen their dialogue skills by practicing empathetic listening and respectful communication. They gained a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity through story-sharing and reflection, while team-building games and patrol-based challenges fostered trust and cooperation. By experiencing different Scouting methods such as learning by doing and teamwork through patrol systems, the scouts developed responsibility and leadership. Overall, the project created a safe space where they learned that respecting differences is essential for harmony and stronger community relationships.
