Cundor Huachana 23 Plastic Tide Turners
We want to be part of the Plastic Tide Turners and EcoLimpiaton initiative in out NSO. In out city, we have two parks where we used to have our activities, English Park and Bicentenary Park. We always saw trash and plastic waste every saturday. We want to have clean parks and safe places to out kids.
We make some meetings to organize where, how and which of us will be part of this initiative and all out scout group want to participate. We went to Bicentenary Park and we collect plastic waste in all the park in teams of 6 o 7 scouts from cubs to rovers scouts. We collect almost 38 kg of plastic waste and later we carry them to a recicle plant and we classified all trash and gave to them.
Our project helped make Bicentennial Park a cleaner and more welcoming shared space for families, children, and other visitors. Removing plastic waste reduced the litter left in the park and ensured that the materials collected were taken for recycling.
For our Scout group, the project provided a practical opportunity to take responsibility for a place we regularly use. Working together across age groups allowed younger and older Scouts to contribute to the same goal and experience how collective action can benefit the community. It connected our Scout commitment to service with a concrete local environmental need.
We learned that all our spaces must be clean and free of plastic waste, which takes a long time to decompose, pollutes the environment, and affects everyone who uses the parks.
